FAQs

Here are some of the questions we are most frequently asked at Blue Valley Car Hire.

A: Click on one of the links on the homepage to navigate to the airport where you want to book, then fill in the online booking form. An email will automatically be sent to us with your booking details, and we will contact you via email with details of how to reserve and collect your car.

A: The basic insurance that you get with Blue Valley Car Hire (and most hire companies) is 3rd party with an excess figure to pay on any damage caused to your hire or if it is stolen. The excess amount depends on the car type .e. the group. CDW insurance protects you in the event of damage to your own car or theft, i.e.you are not liable to pay the excess figure. CDW is optional, and can be selected when you fill in the online booking form.

A: For busy periods it is always advisable to book early. There are usually rental car shortages in Portugal and Spain during busy periods, and demand and supply means that prices tend to increase the later the vehicle is booked.

A: For Spanish destinations a holding deposit of 10% or 15% is required depending on the location.
In the Algarve, a 15% deposit is required for 7 and 9 seater vehicle hire. The vehicle holding deposits are refundable if a cancellation is received at least 72 hours prior to the vehicle collection time.

The remainder of the payment is made by credit card when you collect the rental vehicle (or when it is delivered to your holiday accomodation). All payments are made in Euros - your credit card company will determine the exchange rate on the day that the transaction is made.

A: No. A valid credit card is needed to act as a deposit in case of accident (this is standard practice with all rental car companies).

A: For long-term rentals or bookings of more than 1 car we may be able to offer reductions. Call us on our UK number to discuss.
