BARCELONA

Barcelona is the fourth most visited city in Europe – a good benchmark of its popularity as a tourist destination. Quirky buildings, centuries old churches and cathedrals and seven beautiful beaches are all the trademarks of this very vibrant city. It has something for everyone and it captivates and charms all those who spend some time here.

Barcelona is renowned for the quaint Gaudi buildings – a manifestation of the genius of its most famous architect. They overturn your notion of what a conventional building should look like – and you are fascinated with the colour combinations and the unusual superstructures.

The avenues of central Barcelona never seem to go to sleep. They are throbbing with small and large shops, with eating places and with tourists and residents. Las Rambles is a haven of activity all through the day and through most of the night, and there are performers at every corner.

Barcelona is beautiful at all times of the year – but the best months are always May and June. The winters can be slightly chilly and not very conducive to using the beach, and the summers can be quite hot. But, on the whole the weather is fairly mild and enjoyable.

During winter and autumn the rainfall can be quite high and there are occasional thunderstorms
